it's like ying and yang in that cell. The Marans are terrorists... the Lavs come running to me begging to be petted and released from purgatory. imho.
I know! What personality differences. My marans are really wild and think of nothing but food, food and more food.

You just described the entire personality of one of my Black Copper boys. . . Life is all about food. Forget anything else. . . Except hens. Most of the time.

The Lavs are the most docile birds, I traveled to liveoak, fl to get them. I saw their parents on the grounds, I don't want to put any words in anybodys mouths but I understand that their birds are from recognized names on here. both their blue pen and their lav pen. my wheatens/blue wheaten pullets are from ocala, fl and another well known byc'er. and I got a clean faced wheaten hen and an ameraucana education from a friend in ringold, ga
and I d/c'd the marans- yes green legs on that slower feathering roo (now I know) thanks!

Wow I love your lavenders ! I am in the same situation having hatched my blue ameraucanas with some BCM and the marrans are wild and scream when picked up but the ameraucanas are very sweet. I didn't spend much time handling them and expected them to be 'wild' but the ameraucanas are turning out to be very easy to handle and have gotten use to being picked up very quickly. I didn't expect them to be so friendly.
I have been a bit confused at telling the boys from the girls but have separated them into boys and girls. They are 5 weeks old and does the boy have a more raised middle part of the pea comb? One has already started to crow so I know he's a boy! Lol

very hard to tell with peacomb, gonna leave that to the experts or time.
I think/hope in this picture, the one on the left is my cockrel and on the right is a pullet.
