what is the most eggs anyones lf ameraucana have hatched? I have a broody that started hatching yesterday, there were at least 15 eggs under her before I realized she went broody. There is now 20 eggs(well, some eggs and some chicks) because my araucana kept sneaking into her box when she came out in the morning to eat, poop and dust bathe. I decided I was going to pull any eggs not hatched tomorrow afternoon and toss them in the bator. These eggs are all blue(not sure how she managed that since I have brown layers too

) but will be mixed colors. I have a bw roo over black, splash, bw/w hens....hoping some of the w/bw girls eggs were there...if not we will just have some ee's. My silver girl also decided she now wants to be broody, I can reach under my black girl and pet her. I went to pull the eggs from the silver and she attacked me so she got to keep her eggs. She is on some marans eggs(same bw roo) so I guess we will end up with some olive eggers too

. So what is the most chicks your ameraucana has hatched?

Hi everyone, I'm new here. We bought three pullets from a local lady. They had been picked on pretty bad in her coop, so they don't have their tail feathers, but they are coming back in. She couldn't remember when they hatched out, but two of them lost toes to the freezing temperatures, so I believe that they are 4-5 months old. We have one black one, that has the beautiful green opalescence in the sun, and the other two are more blue, with darker heads. I don't know what color you would call them. We really enjoy these little characters, they are so much fun to watch.

The black one we call Nubs, because she has Nubs for feet.

Oh they're cute! The non-black ones are blues. I met a roo named Nubs recently- he seems to get along just fine without feet. Can't really breed the girls, but it doesn't keep him from trying!

I've hatched a bunch of lavender & split Ameraucana chicks this spring. As they get feathers, some of the splits have silver leakage. I know leakage is a bad thing, but since gold in the hackles is a common issue with the lavender birds, wouldn't silver help to counteract that?

Thank you! Yeah, she seems to be doing just fine. She can run like the wind with those Nubs! LOL They have such cute expressions. In the top picture, our bigger one (haven't named her yet) is wondering where her treats are. LOL

Close- BUT yellow beaks and feet. I almost thought you had a couple wheatens there for a sec.

So the Blue and dark colored bird don't seem close? Seems like I've seen blue like that one in here, but just was curious as to what would be throwing it off. Thanks for the response!

what is throwing it off is the other color on the head...the only other color that I've seen go away when they grow up is yellow

even if it grows up to "look" pure it won't be able to be considered pure as it won't breed true...
