i have some LF lavender americanas due in a couple weeks. I've been told lavenders have weak type and need to be worked on, what are the things i need to watch/ work on. should i be getting a good black bird to outcross with then?
Thanks
Sib

Yes- get some nice blacks or splits. It might help to start with some you know have good egg color and feathers. The lavs can still be a bit "orp-y" and you want to breed closer toward the ameraucana standard.

My Lavender Bantam Ameraucanas are in the mail from John Blehm! I'm terribly excited! My computer has been down and at the shop so I just now got around to getting on BYC!

I just got three of Clover's LF Lavenders yesterday. Though they were hatched by someone else. She got to see their little fluff butts today when she brought over our Buff Project babies and had lunch! Fun times!

Mine are too! I am so excited but anxious. I haven't had chicks sent in the mail before, i'm a little nervous.

Mine are 4 adults. I'm assuming they will be here tomorrow. If anyone has any leads on some Silver bantams or Brown Red bantams you know where I'm at

I have a trio of bantam blacks I just purchased last fall. If you check the breeders list at ameraucana.org you should be able to find quite a few breeders.

Very cool, guys!
I picked up some, but I don't think most are going to be accepted colors.
It looks like there are one or two that may be.

From the basic breed description it appears I should have birds that fit the bill...but from what I've seen posted I'm not so sure others would agree.

Just when I think I've figured it out it seems someone posts a picture and "EE" follows suit.
