You know once my Smith birds are producing you're gonna have to have some of them too!

This is my last hope. In February I hatched two wheaten cockerels, so I tried again and definitely have one more wheaten cockerel and this one. This little guy is blue, but I can't tell what gender. The two feathered in at exactly the same rate, their feet are the same size, and their combs are almost identical. The only reason I am holding out any hope is that he/she is so LIGHT. What do you all think?

I hope the picture is clear enough. It was hard to get a picture because this one is always way too close. Usually on my shoulder, making a grab for my earring.

Yep. Are you trying to get a blue wheaten boy, or are you trying to get a girl? I am finally getting some eggs here, and should have more chicks soon. Right now I have about 5 roos to every pullet.

I'm so happy for you Ron!
Wheaten Ameraucanas are the nicest personality birds of all and they will really grow on you as soon as the personalities hit full speed. Lucky for the SWpullets! I have only one and she is so pretty, we call her "Peacock" ( yes I know a peacock is a male bird every one - it just fit her ). Keep some grow out picture comming Ron! We'll all enjoy them.

I was hoping for any color pullet. I think that maybe this breed just wasn't meant to be. I only got two chicks out of the first six I ordered because they arrived in an ice storm. The second batch of twelve were developing beautifully until day 15 or so. Later I discovered that my cheapo hydrometer wasn't even CLOSE to accurate. I dehydrated those poor babies.

These two were the only ones to survive that hatch. All four are boys. They are beautiful, sweet boys, but I would love them SO much more if they could manage to produce a nice, blue egg for me. Sigh.
