    pips&peeps :

Here are a couple photos of buffs that I am looking at to show this fall. They have a more even shade of buff than what the picture shows.

This one has the looser feathers like an orp.

I still have more in the brooder ready to go outside.......

They are AMAZING... I don't know if I even have birds that will be able to go to nationals. THIS is why Buff LF are on my list!!! Great job Jean they are really nice!

Very nice Jean! [IMG] I have 7 buff roosters and want to keep the best 3 to grow out. They are a little over 12 weeks old. What qualities should I be looking for? I think I get the color and combs, but I'm unsure about the body type, size and tail set.
    Thanks! [IMG]

Leg color.... let them grow out a bit. You should be able to tell if the legs are white and cull those.

Eye color is bay, you can readily see a light eye on these birds as the darker eye just kind of "pops" at you.

Tail angle is 45 degrees, you want to make sure they have a nice smooth top line. The oldest isn't very smooth at this point and I am hoping he grows more sickles and has less fluff sticking up by October.

The oldest one shown also has a very nice comb at this point which concerns me. I like them to be a bit smaller at this age because they tend to get larger as they mature.

Thanks Jean [IMG] All have good leg color and I am a real fussy when it comes to combs on any breed, so I have looked hard and long at those! All the roosters hold their tails down right now but a couple of the smaller less impressive ones! They are making it hard on me! [IMG] Guess I will have to take pictures and post them of the ones I like best.

Here are some pictures I took of the chicks I hatched from Denise"s eggs.
I stated the other day that they were 5 weeks but I was incorrect they are a few day shy of 7 weeks.
They are very cool and continue to get more social everyday.
It is very hot here so they are panting and holding their wings out in some of the pics.

Does anybody know where BluePoultry in MO got thier wheatens? They were selling chicks last year, so it was some time ago.

I am pretty sure it was not from me.

Mahonri was looking at their stock back in 09 and we talked about them.
