You might find you don't get a whole lot of support from the Ameraucana breeders here since we are the ones objecting to the use of the name "Ameraucana" with non-standard birds.
This thread is not just about "advanced learning". We simply insist that it remains about Ameraucanas.
To help with this issue I have decided to open another Ameraucana breed thread that will hopefully cover a broad spectrum of issues that surround this breed. I am fairly new to the breed and will need help from others to make this work. I have been told that this thread is mainly focused on discussing APA-standard birds which is absolutely fine. Since this is the main "sticky" Ameraucana thread, newcomers to the breed don't understand that it is an advanced place of learning focused very controlled breed specifics. Is there anyway to change the title of this thread to specifically state that? As it is now, the title does not reflect the topics discussed. I am beginning to understand that frustration of the long-time subscribers. But you are right, ignoring the topic altogether just alienates new people from becoming involved with the breed. Maybe having two different threads where like minded people frequent will help relieve some of the tension on here. I will post the link to the other thread on here and see what happens.

This thread is also about project colors. If you know the birds parentage, and you are striving toward a goal, its still an Ameraucana!!!!!!!!!!! If you don't know the parentage, and you have a bird with all different colors on it (not standard) its and EE!!!!!!!!!!! Like I have said before MOST of the Ameraucanas traits are Dominant, that is why when you mix breeds, you get birds that look like Ameraucana (EE). EE are birds with unconfirmed parents, culls from a project (because they don't conform to standard, or desired standard), and mixes. Its not rocket science.
Royce has birds that he has breed to have a white egg, to remove the brown gene modifiers to eventually get to a bluer egg. He had a goal, so because his bird laid white eggs doesn't mean its an EE!
Jean has breed out to Orpingtons a couple of years ago or currently for a lacing project on blues. Guess What? She had a cross that looked just like an Ameraucana............ Beard, muffs, pea comb, white skin, slate legs, the whole nine yards.............. She could of shown it, it was so nice looking. Now with this all being said, ethics, and responsibility say to sell chicks from this rooster as such, project birds. I don't know if jean still has him, or what ever happened to that beautiful rooster.
I am perfectly nice to newbies, I am usually nice to people I don't agree with, except one time I told BarnGoddess to stop being the EE police. I already told her I was sorry. So someone will eventually answer questions, if it doesn't get answered repeat the question. If someone says sorry this is the wrong thread for you, or directs you to another thread, its to help you. I don't think this thread is elitist. But like I said before, we are also human, and get sick of explaining the same crap. Instead of starting another thread, what I think should be done, is someone needs to create a small blurb that gets copied and pasted every time someone asks the repeat questions, or has pics of EE on the thread.
