i don't mean to be rude, but why do you guys not like crossbreeds? i'm very impressed that you guys know so much about genetics and stuff... but haven't you ever just had two kinds of chicken, and say "I'm going to cross these!" i am getting fertile eggs with my serama and a Bantam lavender Ameraucana Roo. and he just turned two months old????? i put my serama eggs in the bater, 90% fertile... the 2 month old BLA is the only roo i have??????? and my serama started laying at 4 months when she should have laid at 6? My BLA is John Bleim, and My serama is SQ pure? what do you guys think?

To answere you first question, this is the ameraucana thread and when you cross two different breeds you no longer have an ameraucana.

Thank you for this question . A man goes out and buy's a Rembrandt , next he buy's a Degas and next he buys a Watteau. He takes the paintings and cuts them up and makes a college out of them. They are worthless as a college but were worth individually in the hundreds of millions. People cane to view each of the former paintings but no one was int rested in seeing this man's college. When you can under stand why no one was int rested in the college but everyone was int rested in each painting individually.


Then you will be able to understand what you have done by crossbreeding your chicken breeds.

What state are you in?You did not mention color varaties or if large or bantam.I will assume large.Are you aware of the cost of express shipping?It could run $60 or more.30 hens and no mention of color varaties makes me think you may have easter eggers.Much easier to find.John Blhem just posted yesterday that he will sell off his breeders to make room for growing chicks starting May 7.He is in Mi.Contact info on the ABC website.Hope this info is helpful.
