Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Clare,
Nice set up. Harry
I have my DH's welding skills to thank for the pens, and his job for all that oilfield pipe.

Unfortunately, we are lacking woodworking skills to make breeding/conditioning cages. I will make do with dog crates.

Aloha kakou,

My Ameraucana chicks have green legs. Do Ameraucanas have green legs. Or are they EEs?

I think they have double barring.

I'll try to get some pics.

aloha, Puhi
Ameraucanas have white skin which makes their legs black or slate blue.

Your birds have yellow skin. Yellow + blue = green legs. They are EEs which can be great layers.

Mahalo nui e Dak. That's kind of what I thought. I got these from a hatchery, shipped in from the mainland USA. I think they have double barring. Didn't really get good pictures. just two blurry ones out of the three I have.

Very nice Brada Puhi. I'm sure you will enjoy them. I have EEs as well as Ameraucanas. For more info on the breed you can go to,

Good for you! And thanks for posting this. I will be archiving it somehow. So when I find my next wife, I can break it out, and say, "See Hon, I'm not nuts! There really are other people who keep chickens in the house too!"

(Btw, that's a handsome little fella there.)

P.S. To all those folks posting pics of their new Wheatens and Blue Wheatens, I sooooooooooooo tickled to see more folks getting turned on by the WBS variety. Now get out there and start showing them!!!!!!!!!

God Bless,

God Bless,
God culls my birds for me i had a predator whip my stock out. Here is my only Blue Wheaten Survivor. I hope god culled the right ones. They were born on 4/2 and the adult feathers are starting to come in. This guy a bit larger comb than most of the other males that survived but I'm just glad to have a Blue Wheaten.
