Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I enjoy reading. But I always have the hardest time finding books that interest me, because I dont have a certain type of books I like just ones here and there. But a chickens book, I would read that. I might see if my library has it, I know they have some books about chickens. they had a couple of copies of the SOP which suprised me.. I always enjoy going to shows and socializing with people. You can hear a lot of great stories and learn a lot of things.I will try and find those books somewhere.Maybe I can find it online somewhere. I do try and have fun at the shows, but when it is time to judge I become all serious and nervous. Last year I got BV on a Blue Ameraucana pullet I no longer have.
That is great you are out there..
Quote: Thanks..I do not have that one either.

What kind of ameraucana is this? Ive had wheaten and blue wheatens before but this one is different than the others. Or maybe im just going insane. Male or female? My females are usually lighter at this age and my males are usually darker. So im stumped. Its 5 weeks.

If you look back at the pics posted of my two chics (on page 2068) this one looks a lot like the one of mine that people are saying is a Blue Wheaten cockerel. What does the comb look like?

No comb yet. Not even red. Yeah i thought it was a blue wheaten cockerel too but i compared him to other chicks i had that were blue wheaten cockerels and they were much darker and blue colored at this age. Maybe he's just feathering out differently. Thanks though!

So pretty. Do. you still get eggs from her? I read about older hens still laying, just a bit less frequent.

Yes, she is still laying! She laid just this morning, as a matter of fact. Amazingly, she did take a year long break and started back a couple of months ago.

Jean, I wouldnt have thought pullet on that one, but it's been awhile since I had any BW Ameraucanas. You're the expert!
