Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

after looking at the link maybe some silver too. So looks like I have some building to do. Im hoping to eventually have sultan LF and bantams and tolbunt polish and of course Ameraucanas.
At some point, I know I am going to have to add some silvers to my flock. I am still figuring out my favorites. I thought the lavenders would be, but they are not as pretty as I thought they would be. I really like my blue wheaten, but I think a wheaten cock is beautiful. My blue hens are beautiful as the cockerels will be. The black are beautiful, but to me not as striking as the silver would be. The only thing is if you have lavenders, or wheatens, or even silvers....they have to be segregated by themselves for breeding purposes. I'm not sure but maybe the blue, black and splash would be a better option for me. I am not planning on showing, I just want pretty birds.

There is no such color as blue splash wheaten, there is blue, splash, wheaten, blue wheaten, splash wheaten
Maybe it was the product of a Blue Wheaten and a Splash Wheaten? I just recently found out there was a splash wheaten and that it was different from the splash that is from the BBS group.
In looking at the ABC board, I saw that the silver babies have the chipmunk coloration which I thought could only be EE. Always more to learn.

Could be but my point wa there is no such thing as "blue splash wheaten". Though silvers have chipmunk down color, it is still pretty easy to tell the difference between them and EEs

Hope it's ok for me to join in here. I just hatched my first ameraucana or at lest that is what i bought them as. I had 3eggs and only one has hatched. But I had 13 bantam Cochin hatch a week or so earlier. we have named it Tiny

the pic's don't really show the gray-blue over tone Tiny has on most of the body. it kind of shows up on Tiny's head in pic's. all the pic's I've seen the leg color is off. I've never shown chickens and had intentions on trying to show but after dealing with some of the showers with cochins I don't think I will. I know not everyone is like that though. any advice is welcomed! I love to learn

Since I am here to learn, can you point out the differences in the silver and ee babies, well other than the slate legs. I do not have a trained eye and I just quickly saw the silver babies on the ABC picture page.

I had to wait until mine got older before I could say with confidence it was X, Y or Z. I am just out to have beautiful chickens. No showing for me. Not up for the work or whatever else goes with it. I had ee's before this and fell in love with the beards and the blue eggs which is why I went the pure Ameraucana route. I bought quality stock and I will see where I go from here. Unfortunately, I have one chicken house, and three additional pens that I used for grow out that could be used for breeding pens. Not sure how much work I want to do since I have dogs, horses, and cows along with my chickens and my husband and I are retired.

I have dogs, koi and chickens. I almost never leave the home excerpt for dr. appt. and to get groceries. my animals and husband are what keeps me going.

Maybe it's a splash?
How quickly my memory goes. I just looked back to a posting I had of my babies where I had separated the boys from the girls according to my tail theory. In the picture I could identify my wheaten/bluewheaten/splash wheaten, then right above her were my three Blue/Black/Splash babies. One was the color I remembered, the off white. The other two...surprise, surprise were yellow with a tinge of blue.

Can anyone critique my little pullet and cockerel for me? They were hatched from some eggs that I got from eBay that were purported to be Ameraucana, so of course I expect that they might be EEs. They are around 19 weeks old. Thanks!
