Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I started with a few various breeds, wanting Dorking. Then I wanted colored eggs and saw an ad on craigslist for Ameraucana pullets (from @pipsnpeeps). My white Ameraucana I got from her is the sweetest girl you've ever met. And now I have 4 Ameraucanas from her. Thank you chicken math, lol

Awesome, I'm hoping to get chocolates from her when she makes them available. What colors do you have from her? I see you're not to far from me. Awesome!

Haha, don't I wish! I'm set up for 12. 11 hens and a rooster, though If I hatch some porcelain d'Uccles I may have to invest in a second little coop.

I started out with one coop and run! Then it went to two! Then I got golden pheasants and they had to have a set up! I need one more this spring! I think my rabbit needs a big pen then if something happens to him! I will have another pen! lol

Yeah I said the same thing..... We just finished our 4th coop! It's addictive for sure.

Luckily for me (and annoyingly) my budget is whatever I earn from the chickens after buying all their feed.

I'm a stay at home mom of 4 and my husband is a full time student and runs his business making e-cig fluid so it's not easy to get a bunch of coops yet. Someday when we have land and our kids are older.

That's when I should get my eggs too. I'm gonna have a full bator but only about 12 SiAm eggs. I'll have 24 eggs from TJCHICKENS, and I think 8 from Sally Sunshine. My father in law has chickens too, but he's not into them like me and some of you all. So I'm over here fangirling all by myself. Haha
I'm so in it for the chicken love! I dont even try and deny it anymore!

I'm in spirit lake, id.I have a trio of whites now and one buff hen. Three out of four have awesome personalities. The second white Ameraucana hen is a bit skittish, but still a sweetheart.
I'm looking for a buff cock, but no luck so far.

That's how it went here! Now we fuss over who's part of the yard it is. We have dog kennels from when we raised our labs, that haven't been used for the past few years. They are mine, lol. My husband keeps trying to use them. I want to clean them up and predator proof them. I have been housing the roo and turkey in one already.

Take them over! You can do it!

I'm in Spokane WA, I have a variety in my flock, too many to name right now, and isn't everyone?

*slaps knee* hahaha

eBay, yep...
Birds are beautiful... my issue is, if they're not correct but selling them as if they are then that is a dishonesty... makes me leery of one cuz you can't tell how much they're not being truthful about... and that breed is very dependent on it's original blood...
It's about time!!! :celebrate :yesss: :woot
I was starting to think she was gonna start before yours... :gig
RavynFallen I completely agree with you. Honesty and integrity are everything! If we don't have that we have nothing. There r so many dishonest people in the world. And they just want to turn a buck, even at the cost of an animal that is rare per say or has a small gene pool to start with.
I also love Old English Game bantams! I have four of them and read that they are getting harder and harder to find...? they are so sweet and precious.
When I get my babies this Spring Ameraucanas maybe you can tell me what you think! If u wouldn't mind teaching a newbie a thing or two.You seem very knowledgeable, and I would really love your opinions on them. I want to hear the bad too! Even if the bad outweighs the good! I really want to learn all I can!
