Any Home Bakers Here?

OK, I notified a guy in the city who works with fish and wildlife. He’s going to come tomorrow and help me dispose of the owls body.

I have to admit, I feel sad for this owl. I guess it was its time.

ETA: it stopped breathing, so it’s dead.
Could have eaten a poisoned mouse.

My family does not use poison for mice, because we know that the owls and the feral cats help keep the population down and we do not want to poison them.

It could’ve eaten a poisoned mouse somewhere else, though.

It’s a pretty big owl, so I speculate that it was just old age.

OK, I got an update on the owl situation.

Before I say anything, know that I took care of this legally and that I followed instructions from the government agencies.

I spoke to dispatch and IDFG. I told them my situation, and they told me that I was authorized to pick up the owl, put it in a bag, and put it in the trashcan. They told me that I was not allowed to keep any part of it. I carried out those instructions, and the situation was taken care of properly.

They also told me that it probably ran into the ash tree, because it was trying to daytime fly, and it couldn’t see well in the daytime. It probably broke its neck when it hit the tree.

Strange thing is that my dog approached it, and put his head down as if he was mourning and paying his respects.

Well, that’s the update. Now I need to make breakfast.

It is good that you were able to take care of the Owl!

Have you seen the mummified pouches they leave as waste? They will be on the ground in the areas that they nest.

If you open up the pouch, you will see the bones of what they ate. Usually a mouse.

Only thing That I would have done differently,, I would have buried it somewhere remote. I believe all living things, when they cross over should be returned to EARTH.
Trashcan is low amount of respect, :(,,, JMO

Back to baking and other kitchen things...

Has anyone ever eaten Oregon Grapes or used them to make jam/jelly? It's the fruit of the Mahonia Aquifolium bush, native to the northwest. I'm looking into it because honeybees love the flowers, and it blooms early, well before other things.

Believe me, I did want to bury it to show respect. I really did. However, orders are orders, and the law is the law. I had to follow instructions.
