Sorry guys, here's the update. 10 of 20 hatched so far with 3 pips working in the incubator. I think 7 blue, 2 black, and one splash. The muffs are fabulous. I'm very happy with how they bred, and will set another batch as soon as this hatch is over

Once my blacks start laying and my blue wheatens hen starts laying again I will be hatching my first pure ameraucana chicks! I can't wait!!

Thanks! I will have a brooder ready. You know I love that blue/splash rooster. I just want enough to at least establish a decent trio of my own. I've never raised blues, can you tell much about them when they're chicks?

This is my first batch, so I'm learning, but some blues are darker than others, I assume they will grow out that way. All have good muffs, but some are fantastic

That's what I'm shooting for. He looks good because his dark is sooo dark. I've gotten 2 splash chicks so far, and the only hen he has that could possibly throw them is a very, very dark blue. I'm hoping to replicate that color

You're right. I've looked at pics of other nice splash cocks but their head, hackle, and saddle did not have the darkness of yours. He is unique.
