Ok, yeah, that's leakage... sorry... And the comb looks almost single... unless he is for a project, I wouldn't use him as a blue, personally...

He's split to chocolate and probably split to silkied as well. So he is for a project. The comb is I think a single/pea combo.

Looks like a mix between single/pea... seen several different kinds, just observed that it seems to favor more of the single...

Good luck on your project... :)

Do any of you feed dog or cat food vs layer pellets/crumbles or flock grower?

I do when I need to increase their protein (animal protein) level. I do not use it in place of their layer feed, but it is fed in small amounts like a treat several days a week. Moistened up with a little bit of plain yogurt to coat it and they eat it right up.

It is much, much cheaper than that high protein Manna or Ultra Kibble that comes in those small bags.

Susan, how are you feeling about your first batch of chicks?

Well, I'm thinking I shouldn't have sold all the wheatens! lol I had several people that were on the waiting list for just a few chicks and there were enough to fill three orders, so I let them go.

But I still have my five little blacks and there is one I'm definitely keeping an eye on! Of course, there is so much that can show up later, so we'll see. Feeling very positive about what I'll have for show in the fall, though :)

I'm in the same boat. I had pre-orders that took the whole last batch so I'm waiting on the next ones. The good thing is Oz got my favorites, so I will get to watch them grow

I did a 7 day candle of a set on Sunday, and fertility was still 25%, so I scrapped the whole batch and set again. Those eggs were collected during that really cold weather, so maybe that had something to do with it. Now I have two batches running 2 days apart. If I have bad fertility, I can combine the good eggs in one incubator for a staggered hatch and set incubator 2 with some eggs I'm collecting this week
