Except I went through a year and a half trying to find a good, decent quality rooster for those girls... :/Well , that just blew my theory! Lol! The smallest variation can make all the difference! You got a pleasant surprise![]()
Here's what I do... I say all mine are boys until proven different, then each pullet is a pleasant surprise... Plus, boys are super prolific here, no matter the species... my first Call duck hatch turned out to be all drakes... no joke...Thank you! It's going to be a long 12-14 weeks!![]()
Exactly... and that's why I never judge the sex of a pea comber by rows... But, as you hatch and grow out you'll notice little idiosyncrasies within your own flock... I can now guess 90% accuracy on my Am's sex by a few weeks old... and Silkies the same... so I don't doubt Susan's gender picks on her chicks...

Ravyn,I had 47 Roosters out of 50 chicks! So now I am like roo! roo! roo! That one is kinda looking like a roo! Oh no! What if they are all roosters!![]()
Don't worry... the cosmos can't be so cruel as to do that again... in fact since the all drake hatch, I had 2 singleton Calls hatch out both girls and the next 4 batches of Calls only had a single drake each...
So it evens out in the end...![]()

I hope not! I found homes for most of my chickens! So I would have room for my Ameraucanas and my Black Copper/ Blue Copper Marans. Still on waiting list for the Marans.
The pleasant surprise approach to the pullets sounds good! Lol
What's the trick on the Silkies, posture, behavior?
You know you like me
definitely
