Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Lockdown is tomorrow for my 13 Ameraucana eggs. I'm so excited. I had one clear and one day 10 death. So far the rest are looking perfect, I need to build a separator to keep my choc splits from my lav splits. Fun times ahead!

Awsome! I hope you have a good hatch!

Are you wanting a white one? In case it is! The whites sure are pretty! This one is too. So how many chicks have u hatched out to keep? Blues? Blacks?

So far I have 11 blues and 3 splash to keep. This one may be a splash, but it won't break my heart if it's white. I set a dozen from Johnny again last night, so hopefully I will get a few blacks. If he's shooting blanks again this time, this is the last set

Thank you...he was nice...he does have barring going on...very similar to lacing genetically....not sure what you consider 'clear bluish slate' per the SOP, but that looks pretty close to me...it certainly is not what I would call 'pale blue'

Well, I thought it was a wonderful discussion, and really don't know how it went off the rails. I have a question, and it's not meant as argumentative. I would just like clarification.
If blue is an accepted color, and I get my best blues from a splash/black mating, what is the problem with that? Is that seen as circumventing true breeding? Should blues only be bred to blues? I just thought, with black/blue/splash varieties of so many different breeds, that the goal would be to create the most desirable birds using whatever matings produced the desired results
