I remember someone saying there was a breeder in Norco. I will see what I can find. I always buy local but I have three great places to buy chickens, GFF, Feels Right Farm and Sawmill Chicken Farm. Two months ago I bought chicks from Sand Castles in South Carolina. It is the first time I have ever had chicks mailed. They were lost for days and when I opened the box they were beautiful, Active and rearing to go. I am not afraid of shipping chicks anymore. For all the horror stories you aren't hearing about ALL the success'. When I was picking up my chicks at the post office so was Tractor Supply. I was at TSC when they took them out of the box. Very healthy. You might want to think about finding a really good breeder and having the chicks shipped. Is there anyone around Los Angeles or SFV who has true Ameraucana chicks for pick up?
OMG adorable
It would be very hard to do a good critique from just the two photos. Her "type" looks off at first glance, with a very long back and I suspect some recent crossbreeding.
I have used cockerels as young as 16 weeks and had fertility . So yes it is possible . Never tried any younger than that .
Very pretty Easter Egger cockerel.

Thanks. I called and emailed the Norco person for hatching eggs but he didn't return my voicemails. Norco is a 4-6 hour round trip for us with traffic so it wasn't worth driving out there unless I could confirm what he had. I got day olds shipped before but since ours hatched on Wednesday/Thursday, I was trying to find some local ones of similar to add to the brooder now. I just went back to return the two Light Brahma chicks (which had severe pasty butt too) and they tried to give me Araucanas--saying they were Ameraucanas. Chicken sagas are only less dramatic than horse sagas.
