I checked all my lavenders toe punches. I have two roosters and one pullet from that pen. I will use the pullet as a olive egger and cull the two roosters. I will still have 3-4 roosters and 3-4 pullets. It was dark and I couldn't tell if the one was a rooster or hen!!! lol

If the other rooster doesn't have leakage, you can use him...

Yes, that is leakage. You wouldn't want to breed that bird forward because he will pass the leakage on to his offspring.

It's best to breed birds with a nice uniform color throughout the bird. Hens can also have leakage but not "show it" which sometimes complicates the matter.

Lavender/self blues are also susceptible to sun bleaching. Congrats on your birds, and best wishes with them!

Thank you! I am glad that all 10 of them didn't come from the same pen. I will still have a good start. A have a couple other roosters that I like. They are not related to my pullets.

Thank you Ravyn, I havn't seen you on here in a while. It's good to see you! The other rooster doesn't have any leakage that I can tell. I do have other lavender roosters. I think I like the size on them better also.

Been on the Lav thread though... had recessive white and an oddity pop up in my breeders, lol...

I have the one recessive white. She is my favorite out of all of them. She thinks she owns me! I had a problem with my turkeys pulling out large clumps of chicken feathers. I sold the three mean turkeys but damage done! Now everyone has to grow back tail feathers. Even harder to cull without tail feathers. They are growing back kind of funny!

It looks blue and like it may glow in the dark! Silver back gorilla! lol jk!!! So what was the thoughts on this? How old is the chick now? Please post pictures as it grows! I am interested to see how she turns out.

Not blue... is something else... 7 days old... started crowing at 6 days old...
