Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Can anyone more familiar with these breeds tell me if it is normal for Ameraucana and/or EE's to have unusual eyes like this?

These are a few of her other babies that didn't make the other picture they look like her. So does that make mom blue or splash?

I went through the threads and located the photo of the parents that you posted. She looks to be splash wheaten like the other people said. It looks like the blue wheaten roo has a little leakage on his chest but otherwise they look like a pretty good couple.

For future reference, here are the typical outcomes
of matings in wheaten/blue wheaten/splash:

If blue wheaten is mated to blue wheaten they will produce 1/2 blue wheaten, 1/4 wheaten and 1/4 splash wheaten chicks-that is on the average.

If blue wheaten is continually mated to blue wheaten-without occasionally breeding in wheaten-the males will loose their lacing. Blue wheaten mated to wheaten will produce half wheaten and half blue wheaten chicks on average.

Splash wheaten mated to wheaten will produce 100% blue wheaten. Splash wheaten mated to splash wheaten produces 100% splash wheaten.

Wheaten mated to wheaten produces 100% wheaten.

If you could post a close up pic of mom with her wings spread that would help. Blue sometimes doesn't show through in the tail. Tipping their bum and looking under the tail feathers sometimes reveals some color.

Garfunkel made it though his isolation/quarantine period without any hitches. Thank you for the clean, healthy Wheaten Ameraucana Cockerel!

I put all the olive egger boys out to be free-rangers so they wouldn't challenge Garfunkel, then there were the two days in a cage within the coop so the girls could get used to seeing him. Under supervision Garfunkel was let out into the coop with the girls.

There was a small disagreement between Garfunkel and the leading lady, Sassy, but once she realized that Garfunkel was the new leader she stopped challenging him. Her second, Kay, took a turn puffing her chest at Garfunkel, but she quickly learned that her brother was not there to back her up. Here are Garfunkel and Sassy eyeballing me with the camera LOL. They all are getting along well now.

One interesting thing I noticed about flock dynamics is that the girls at the top of the pecking order are no longer in charge since the male leadership has changed. The ones who were at the bottom see that Sassy and Kay no longer have their backup, so they feel free to challenge them. I love watching my chickens!

Oh, and I finally heard him crow. He sounds so pitiful right now. LOL

Oh, and here are the free-rangers, wondering how to get back in the coop

All of the girls and the free-ranger bachelors have the same dad, a blue Ameraucana.
Splash = Golden Wing
white w/ red leakage = Duck Feet
back row, left to right = Red, Filet, Mr. Food

I have never seen a female wheaten/blue wheaten color in like that. Is that an Ameraucana?
