Garfunkel made it though his isolation/quarantine period without any hitches. Thank you for the clean, healthy Wheaten Ameraucana Cockerel!
I put all the olive egger boys out to be free-rangers so they wouldn't challenge Garfunkel, then there were the two days in a cage within the coop so the girls could get used to seeing him. Under supervision Garfunkel was let out into the coop with the girls.
There was a small disagreement between Garfunkel and the leading lady, Sassy, but once she realized that Garfunkel was the new leader she stopped challenging him. Her second, Kay, took a turn puffing her chest at Garfunkel, but she quickly learned that her brother was not there to back her up. Here are Garfunkel and Sassy eyeballing me with the camera LOL. They all are getting along well now.
One interesting thing I noticed about flock dynamics is that the girls at the top of the pecking order are no longer in charge since the male leadership has changed. The ones who were at the bottom see that Sassy and Kay no longer have their backup, so they feel free to challenge them. I love watching my chickens!
Oh, and I finally heard him crow. He sounds so pitiful right now. LOL

He's looking nice! Maybe next spring, you'll be ready for some nice wheaten and blue wheaten chicks to go with him.
