I have updated our website page to show a few more examples of self-blue to show the variations that are acceptable under the proposed standard. Most of these were taken from our archive meet results photo gallery.

But I read they carry a chromosome that causes several hatchlings to be born dead or die soon after hatching. They are a hybrid from the Chilean Araucana. If so then I don't know if be able to deal with that. Bc I hatch all my chicks.

No, Ameraucanas do not have a chromosome like that at all... as long as the stock is healthy, there should be no more issues than any other breed while hatching...

Araucanas have a lethal tuft gene that if the chick inherits 2 copies of it will die while still in the shell and just won't hatch...

Lavender/Self Blue breeds true... all chicks (barring the exception to every rule) will hatch Lavender/Self Blue if both parents are Lavender/Self Blue...

I am so devastated. I just spent the last hour wandering my neighborhood looking for my wheaten and chocolate Ams. I managed to recover 3 live chocolates and 2 wheatens. I have 3 dead chocolates and 2 dead wheatens and 4 missing wheatens. Som critter got in my coop and scattered them, there were corpses up and down the sidewalk, one was mostly eaten right next to the coop and the rest were just decapitated and scattered around. I can hope that my misssing ones are just hunkered down for the night and will make their way home. My poor babies.

My splash Wheaten boy wandered home a bit ago, and I found one choc hiding in the coop. I have 7 live chicks and 2 are still missing.

So sorry to hear that. How awful. We all know how much you have put into starting these. I hope you find the others.
