Indeed! I'm new to Ameraucana chicken breed but i have researched and as far as i can tell maybe a mix of Am and wellsummer??

Feed stores do not get Ameraucana. They get Easter Eggers from hatcheries that misrepresent their birds as Ameraucana. The feed stores order what they think are Ameraucana, because they don't realize that hatcheries are less than honest about their birds.
And for show stock, you should be sourcing from breeders that have a good reputation in the breed. Feed stores get their birds from hatcheries. Hatcheries breed for volume, not to produce good examples of their breeds.

No. They are typical hatchery-type Easter Eggers. No Ameraucana in them at all.

Unfortunately they are harder to find... and to weed out the dishonest ones...

Lesson learned.....they have blue legs...isn't that typical of Am? And I'm hoping for blue eggs in about a week

Are you a Am breeder? It would be nice to know an honest one! I also ordered eggs black copper maran.....outta 12 ...5 hatched and all have brachydactyly......no good for show either!! I have learned a LOT of lessons this year!!

Toe problems are COMMON with marans, even from good stock.

I think the outside toes too short are not a DQ maybe just a point off, maybe not even that. Of course webbed/fused toes are a clear problem.

I have had zero toe issues crop up with my Ams, which sure is nice!
