Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a black, the one blue just has black accents rather than a bluish. I just am curious if the black on blue is a fault or good for breeding.

Black looks decent... great muffs, good comb, tail is a bit low but will come up a bit I bet as he fills out... got any straight on shots of him?

How about this boy? His tail has been plucked by a couple of crabby old hens. He's about 5 months old.

Sorry, I see I need to clean my phone camera lens.

Good comb, good muffs, nice to see the beard is a bit longer ( ;) ), tail is low, but give him time as well... I bet it will come up... body needs to fill out more, but again he has growing to do... color looks fairly even, but he might be carrying silver leakage... over blacks the cockerels he throws just might look like speckledhen's Scout if he is...

This is the closest to a front shot I have on my phone. It is from early July so as 4/2 chick he is young in it. The other is the green in his wings. I can get a front shot tonight if I remember

Nice sheen... angle on that front shot is too hard for me to see what's him and what is the angle, lol... :)

I will try to get one tonight. It may be hard though as these Ameruacana don't want to face me. They run away from pictures. They are not bold like my HRIR.

I understand that, lol... I have both extremes... ones that will give supreme close ups of their nares and the ones that act like I'm gonna shoot them with the camera... :gig

I have a question about the Lavender Ameraucanas.
I am thinking about getting these instead of the blues.

Are these showable? Does anyone have pictures as to what I should be looking for in chicks that are 6 weeks old?

I am going to try and get a pair at this age how can I tell them apart? And for breeding them - will the chicks be all lavender as well or will there be splash in mix like the blues?

Thank you for your help.
