Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a question about the Lavender Ameraucanas.
I am thinking about getting these instead of the blues.

Are these showable? Does anyone have pictures as to what I should be looking for in chicks that are 6 weeks old?

I am going to try and get a pair at this age how can I tell them apart? And for breeding them - will the chicks be all lavender as well or will there be splash in mix like the blues?

Thank you for your help.
Lavender gene pools should be kept separate from Blue. They aren't really showable yet, but it's in the works. Lavender is actually a completely different gene from the Blue/Splash gene. Lavender breeds true 100% of the time. At 6 weeks, look for a good slate wash on the legs, an even and uniform coloring. Avoid buying chicks from parents with hints of gold, yellow, or silver.

Thank you so much. Since they are not show-able I think I won't be getting them.

They are in the process of gaining acceptance from the APA. Within the next few years, they should be showable. That's about how long it will take you to really get your breeding program going. They are still in the 'project' status and are in need of dedicated breeders.

They can be shown as AOV, any other variety. You can still win Best or Reserve Best of Variety, or Best or Reserve Best of AOV. You just can't compete yet at the Best or Reserve Best of breed level and above. The petition for acceptance of lavender/self-blue has been submitted and accepted by the APA and is in process. However, it will take a couple of years for them to finally be accepted into the APA Standard.

I understand that, lol... I have both extremes... ones that will give supreme close ups of their nares and the ones that act like I'm gonna shoot them with the camera... :gig
Here he is.

@samouw the egg color cards from Ameraucana Breeder's Club arrived today and they are wonderful. I can't wait to use them on my Ameraucana girls' eggs when they start laying. Thank you for a wonderful product!!!!!! For everyone who is wondering, the hype about them having a lot more of the colors on them is totally true.
