Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I was thinking the same thing when I seen her. Use blue rooster

I agree there must have been hidden genes she is very pretty though.

So give me your best guess.... how the off spring may come out using the blue roo?
I'm safe to assume that I should not look at this like I look at breeding and the genetics of my Blue and Blue Copper Marans, RIGHT?

Pinkchick, if I were you, I'd go back and start asking some questions about the parent stock. Some is definitely array. Now I have the WBS variety so I am not even close to being an expert on BBS but from everything I know about the WBS and the BBS, you could not have got that from two true Blues. Either a stray rooster got in unawares or somebody in the past has been playing around with some experimentation and the result was latent or recessive genes popping up in your bird.

I would agree with Chicken Stalker in that there's some BLRW in your bird. Even the body type seems to show some Wyandotte.

If you want to get back on track with straight Ameraucanas, I'd start all over and go to another source of BBS who's got a longer, proven track record.

Btw, on a side note, I got blasted recently for asking a bunch of questions regarding an auction for some hatching eggs. This bird is exactly why I do that and exactly why I am VERY particular about who I get my eggs/birds from when I bring something into my flock. Especially with my Welsummers but the Ameraucanas and Barnevelders too.

God Bless,

Thanks for all of your input I appreciate it!

It is good to know.
She will remain in the laying flock where she has been her entire life. She is a great layer.
I do have another flock of BBS Ameraucana's unrelated to her or her siblings or her parents that I am starting over with.

Thanks again!

I got some new pictures of the two new pullets and the flock free ranging together!
