Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'll start this again by posting a picture of Snow, my splash Ameraucana, who has now finished her molt and looks beautiful again.

Cynthia she is lovely! I am new to this breed and have been enjoying this thread...then couldn't find it! Glad it's back up and running. Here is my contribution; a photo of Mia, 9 week old Blue Wheaten. She was the only chick to hatch in my Buff Orp broody's clutch. She and Mama live alone together until she is big enough to join Ranger and the two big girls (post 467 of this thread). She is hilarious to watch as she is always just a step behind her Mama and imitates her every move. If Ellie flaps her wings, Mia flaps...if Ellie scratches her head, Mia does the same. She even echoes every sound she makes. Mama Ellie still drops food in front of her as if she were a baby chick. She is a true only child!

I have heard the green eggs are often a problem with black and blue ameraucana but I could be wrong so far I have had mostly all very nice blue eggs! I am really happy with their color and also their lay rate.

Here are some eggs from one of my split lavenders (visually black). They were very close to blue...of course they looked better in person.

Nice eggs chicken stalker I have been trying to get pictures of my eggs but they always end up white or green but they are really blue any idea's ? How do you take picture of your ameraucaqna eggs? I am getting the egg shell chart soon but I would love your ideas. I know not to use flash but only natural light any other ideas?

That picture was taken outside on a bright sunny day. I think the color grey compliments the blue eggs the best. I took various pictures that day and this one came out the best. Here is a picture of shell fragments from my wheaten hatch (eggs from peachick). It was a cloudy day and you can see the greyness in the daisy so it made the shells a little off color but pretty close. It just takes practice and several shots to get it just right. Unfortunatly it won't ever be 100% because everyone's computer moniters are a little different in thier color settings.

Are they lighter blue than the ones from your split lavs? Just testing my moniter. I thought the sun washed out the color usually, but you did a really good job with the pictures.
