Yes, it comes through to the offspring, and no, you don't want to use him for a serious breeding program..if they are just for your own enjoyment, then go for it! But I wouldn't plan on selling a bunch of his chicks and really "getting them out there" as it's not really doing anything beneficial for the breed or the variety.
