Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Here is a pic of one of my hens. I have had her for several years. I got her from a flock of chickens I rescued. Is she an americana or EE.

I have quite a few Easter Eggers and they look different than her.

The chick in the first pic is from you:

I had a lousy hatch & only ended up with 3 project chicks & the EE.

Hoping they're a trio! If you have any extras, I can make a roadtrip.

The only chick with stripes in the hatch 3 weeks ago is the one I took pics of & I thought it was an EE. The rest looked like every pic I've seen of W or BW ameraucanas. Should I hold them & see if the leg color deepens? On the ABC website, the wheatens & blue wheatens look like they have fairly light legs compared to some of the other colors. The one that looks like a wheaten cockerel has the same leg color as the rest. The only one with dark legs is the EE looking one. As soon as they hatched, I emailed the breeder to ask about the chipmunk striped one. I think maybe she has some EE in the background somewhere if she occasionally gets a chick like that one. Should I doubt the rest of them too?

Does anyone have pics of wheaten or blue wheaten ameraucanas at 3 weeks old so I can compare?

This is how a Blue Wheaten should look, minus the pink marking on the neck. They should be solid creamy yellow with perhaps a tiny light brown dot on the head, and as they feather out should be brown with a white tip from chickhood.

That is an Easter Egger. Easter Eggers can look like anything, as they're crossbred. The closest any Ameraucana could look like to that is a Brown-Red, which are a very rare color variety, and do not have that body type, length of beard, or color of feet.

She is pretty though.

Thanks,

I have been wondering because all my other EE's are brownish tan multi-color and have giant beards and muffs and are heavier in the body.

I had one of my EE's that is with my araucana roo lay a true turquoise egg today. I have been noticing her eggs getting darker, but todays is georgous.

She is REALLY pretty!

Curious about tgrlily's chicks...the Wheaten/Blue Wheatens look like Ameraucanas to me(?) Is there something I'm missing? I know the legs aren't right, but I've heard they can darken with age (that may not be correct)(?)

The curiousity is finally getting the better of me.. I love my girls either way but would love the input of everyone here..

I bought these two girls as day old chicks from a breeder-- but then found out that they eggs that were shipped in, not their own bred eggs.

They sold them as Ameraucana's, but I am aware how overused that term is.. and have resigned them to be EE's.. err. maybe?

You're input is needed! What are my 10 wk old girls? The first two pics are of Gertie, and the second is Ginsy.
