Here I was so excited about seeing an EE with such awesome leg feathers. Sigh. anyhow, congratulations on a beautiful Faverolles!

This is one of the Blue Wheaten cockerels that I hatched from Jean's eggs, he's darker blue than the other, is there blue shade preference for the standard?

He's the one with the crooked toe,

The pics a bit blurry but you can really see how crooked his toe is in this one. I wonder if I could use a splint to correct it? He's definitely the tamer of the two boys, so I'm already leaning towards keeping him.

At what age can you tell whether you have a Roo or a Hen in Ameraucanas?

If I have chicks from an Ameraucana pair that do not turn out to be the accepted colors, are they considered unacceptable Ameraucanas or EEs?

Some can tell the difference pretty early, some take a bit longer, depends on your experience

I don't know how often that happens.... if you take 2 accepted color ameraucana of the same color family (like black, blue, splash) and get some other color then I would think that one of those isn't pure

but the offspring would still probably be considered an EE by a lot of breeders (I wouldn't call it an Ameraucana if I hatched one

)
If you are talking about birds that come from one of the hatcheries....they won't breed to an acceptable color, they don't breed true either because they aren't pure ameraucana...

I got my chicks from a breeder. The Roo has won a couple of ribbons. She has three hens that she breeds with him, but two of them are a differant color than he is. Should she be calling the chicks from those two EEs?
If you can't tell, I am very new to this breed.

ribbons don't really mean anything unless it was a APA sanctioned show.... EEs win ribbons all the time at our county fair and their tags all say ameraucana, araucana, americana etc,.....
What color are they? some colors are in the same "family" and can be bred together...
