I'll try to weigh him soon. I'll also get a better picture while I'm at it. He's already grown since that one, and is looking nice. I think he has a good top line but needs to hold his tail higher, which he might do once he toughens up. Right now he's low man, even though he's bigger than the Lav roo (who is a little small but decent size for a Lavender).
He will hold his tail low because of the dominance issue, but with the silvers a low tail angle on the male isn't a bad thing. Check your pullets and you will see what I mean. They definatly scream "I am leghorn".

I agree, my motto is nothing leaves my yard alive. I end every choice of where my projects go with a hatchet. And IF a friend would want one, tufted turd balls. I won't risk it to anyone to muck up.
I have a rare combo of mutt cock. Who is 12 lbs or more. In this pic was taken in Oct of 09. BUS was hatched 4 weeks after I got my Akers Buff Opr hens last spring. He is only 7 months old here.
Here is the daddy of my little chicks.
I just wanted to make some Akers Blue Orps and Black Orps. Never expected another breed I could use in with. Seeing we all here are wanting to increase size. IF you know he can throw a self blue & potentially is part Ameraucana, would you guys use him?
I would NOT. If you just want Lavender chickens, or Lavender Easter Eggers, then sure, but it would be many, many, many generations before you could breed out all those other unwanted genes and get to something that even looked like the Lavender Ameraucanas of today, and even more generations before those birds would breed true. Lavender Ameraucanas aren't as "RARE" and hard to find as they were a few years ago. You can find them fairly easily, and find the splits (carriers) even easier. In fact, I'll probably end up with quite a few black/Lavender split males at the end of the season that I'll be practically giving away.
Not too much into self blues. IF I do want any, there are many folks who sell. More into seeing IF the little chick grows out and has a Pes Comb. And I am 48, I can wait till I am 60 to decide IF my number 18 pen is no more fun. I have two PURE Ameraunana pens. I just took out about 8 chicks to grow out. I have at least another dozen PUREBRED chicks to get out into the pens.
Just wanting to know what would come out. I have little trouble whackin a bird IF I don't like him.

well, since the thread is about AMERAUCANA I would love if we could stick to the topic. lildinkem- maybe you should start a thread in the breeds section and post your progress, add pics too, see what you come up with. BUT, since he is clearly not an ameraucana can we shift conversation back there please
. There is also an EE thread for ameraucana crosses which would probably be more appropriate

Since I read every page on this thread, may not post, I can say there are folks, LIKE ME, who have stated way before ME, that they were introducing the Andulusion lacing gene to their blues. I am on that page of thread. So, I am am topic. lolololololololol
That may be, but this thread is for discussing pure Ameraucana varieties, which your birds clearly are not. You should continue your questioning on the Easter Eggers thread, as your birds fit more into that category, or as another member mentioned maybe start your own thread to discuss yours and other forum members projects that are currently in progress. Plus there are many people on various other threads that are also here on the Ameraucana thread. We're just trying to keep things on topic.

Cool! I was hoping to have at least one out my batch of nine. Now I just have to see about the rest of them. Some are obvious, some not so much! I have an almost white one. She is starting to get light tannish feathers on her hackles, but that is the only color on her. Let me know if you want to see more pictures. I took some in natural light today and the color shows up really well.
