Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

We love our Ameracauna's - they are my daughter's pets (we also have 2 Wyandotte's). They are super affectionate - come and jump on your lap and love to be pet. They are also the first to run up for treats and chase the dog. Here's a pic of Mimi & Violet at about 10 weeks.

This is Mimi free ranging in the backyard. She's about 12 weeks here.

It's interesting to see all the color variations and hear about the personalities. I have no idea if ours are bigger/smaller/more or less personable or what - but they are super cute and a lot of fun. Hoping for eggs by August.

I never thought there would be a way to describe our road with smileys- but that's right on!

Who had those young blacks a few pages back? New2Chooks? I really like them. I was never interetsed in them until I fell for the lavs. Ijust have one black (not split) so far and would love to get a few girls like those.

So can anyone tell me about black & egg color? I'm going to need serious help with the lavs.

Sweet! I have to wait until July 4th for lockdown on my lav eggs. 13 of 15 look promising- really good for shipped eggs that have to travel down a washboard gravel rd!

Happy hatching!

(these are bouncing not jumping smileys) then when we met about half way between us he saw her Jeep and said oh she lives in nowhere...you just never know what a 5 year old will come up with.
According to Mr Fox the best Ameraucana's are Jeans and Halo's Wheaten's they are down right tasty *!!*!! Fox will die for his deeds

Get em my fox liked Smith chicks the best until my dog killed him

The blacks were my favorite mine had very good egg color. Not sure whose had the best egg color they were all mixed some of the ones I got from Will Morrow were very blue and some were mint green the ones I got from Paul Smith were pretty good though.

I can hardly wait. My Ameraucanas from Paul Smith are still just growing out. I look forward to seeing a blue egg in the nest!

Hey Kathy- you aren't incredibly far from me. Maybe when your girls start laying you could sell me some hatching eggs? I knew I should have gotten some of those hens from Garner's, but I just wasn't thinking far enough ahead!

Great what color Blue and blacks?

One of my 2 week old Ameracauana chicks kept charging my very large, older male black copper marans. Does that mean I should assume it's a male even if it's so young?
