This is our Ameraucana, Ruger when he was 3 months old. He is more person than Chicken.

He's a good lookin' bird , but not an Ameraucana . Easter Eggers are frequently sold as Americanas , Araucanas , or Ameraucanas . I'm a little partial to the EEs , buy have Ameraucanas also .

Hey everyone,

So I'm getting some chicks from Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. They are being sold as Ameraucanas but should I expect them to just be a mix?

Yep, he is one gorgeous looking EE! I have a few EEs but none as good looking as Ruger.

I don't believe there is such a thing as black splash. If a bird is black, its black. Blue birds are blue because the gene gets diluted and then so does blue which ends up splash. If a blue bird has black feathers like the one pictured, usually it is considered a pet quality bird.

my bf just saw your rooster and started freaking out saying "That chicken looks like sasquatch! If I had that chicken I would name him sasquatch! Definitely a sasquatch!" and then "Well he looks like he could be a Hamlet, he has sort of Shakespearean garb."

lol!

I like Hamlet, he's handsome! His lady isn't bad either!

HA! He is very dark and brooding (as opposed to broody!). The Ameraucanas all have Shakespeare names. The hard part is that the Bard wrote in more male names than female names. Sigh.
