They were bred from leghorns, so probably not.

Wow! I never would have guessed that one! So they crossed leghorns with... ?
Does that mean they are going to be excellent layers?

It means they are beautiful but flighty

we just sold most of them because unless you have a covered run they are real good at visiting the coop next door

We also have silver leghorns and if your not looking at the cute beard you can't tell one from another..when you try to catch them you still can't tell but they are beautiful...did I mention that

Buff leghorns are not flighty neither are exchequer and millie have had them all at one time or another but rest overall are flighty birds or maybe better said quick reaction times! My checkers begs to be held all the time.
If you see silver legs and silver Ameraucana's you know right away they are related.Silver legs are very small-where the smaller size of the silver Ameruacana comes from.

I think the Silver Ameraucanas are gorgeous, but oh so flighty. Total wackos. This is one of the few photos I have of my 6 year-old hen, Dixie...and I had to stalk her because she's camera shy. In this photo, she's hiding behind a clump of ornamental grass at the back deck.

If you raise them in small groups and give them alot of attention, they can get very tame. They are actually not as wild as my blacks and blues.

Here are some photos from my second generation breeding project to improve size and type on them. They almost have the correct down pattern already.
