Jeremy & All:
Is that how red the faces of my hens should be to tell ma they are close to laying? Most of the roos already are red faced but the hens are stil paler and pinkish. They were born/hatched 6-23-2010. No eggs yet.
 
Paradise, they'll get pretty red before laying. Their combs will also enlarge a bit, too. If they are still pink you've still got some time before they start giving you eggies.

I found that my Ameraucanas took the second longest to lay eggs for me, all of my brown egg layers started giving me eggs around 18-19 weeks, the Ameraucanas started at about 22 weeks and the one Easter Egger I used to have gave me an egg at 26 weeks!
