Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

That's too cute. I have a Wellie going on 4 months- her babies are almost the same size as her and still try to squeeze under her wings at night- and she lets them!

That would be such a sweet photo! (hint, hint!)

I'll try to get one tonight when I have the flashlight on me. Stupid camera doesn't have a flash anymore. How long until Santa gets here?

Should be a roo.

Wait - are we still talking about mine?!! A roo?!

The one with the dark speckles, or the one that is dark grey with a black head - that is a Blue Plymouth Rock, and a pullet. You think the darker of the Am's is a roo?

I asked earlier this year about obtaining some quality bantam eggs, most of you were hatching at that time. Does anyone have anything available for purchase now that it's cooled off? Would like bantams only, with nice heavy beards...if possible. Thanks everyone, I enjoy reading and lurking on the thread.

That was my post, about the coloring for three week old wheaton / Blue wheaton ameraucunas. Some have some darker feathers coming in on their necks. One has dark feathers on it's back, but non are black...... Does the darker color ALWAYS mean roo, at this point? None have any comb at all, yet.
I could try to post pictures...

Does anyone have any photos of their stock they could show me of Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas with an actually good spacing of the legs, wider rear, and good, slight slope between the saddle and tail? I'm finding there are just so many Wheatens and Blue Wheatens with really narrow rear ends, narrowly spaced legs, and long, abruptly angled tails.

There is one posted on this thread, let me see if I can find him.....

ETA: page 426, post 4252.

His legs look a little light in the picture, but they are sometimes hard to judge in pictures. Overall type is very nice.

I have Blue Wheatens and Lavs..but now that it has cooled off none of my zillion Ameraucanas are laying. If I was looking to purchase I think I would try and get chicks from John Blehm in the spring.
I havent seen too many people with a Bl Wheaten flock that could do a doz eggs, like you see the Lav and BBS auctions.
Shelley1969 has a nice pair.
There seem to be a good amount of BBS and a few Lav auctions in the BST.
