Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Pink-
I don't know diddly about shipping either. I conversed with Harry via email, and it looks like I could use the small lav girls- at least a couple.

That's cool......did he mention any possible negative effects of the blue and lav when crossed?

LoL! I didn't know these girls would be such a hot item......PM's are on fire. Makes me wish I had 20 of them. I only have 5 and one cockeral in the freezer pen that was never going to be bred because he came out with a single comb. I had a peacombed and very nice cockerel until a couple of months ago when he took a tumble while running down a little hill to hurry up and get some treats and just as I turned my head to watch them all come running, I saw him do a complete 360 head over butt roll. He got back up immediately and ran into the coop run, picked up a piece of apple and spit it back out and walked over to a corner of the run and sat down and started breathing funny. I went over and picked him up and within 1 minute he had what I though to be a seizure of some sort and his head went limp and that was that. After talking with some of my BYC buddies we determined that he had a heart attack, I cried for days, he was such a lover and so friendly.

This is him, this photo was taken earlier the same day he died.

This is the other one that I have that due to the single comb, it's just something I don't want to take the time to work with.

Awwww! Sorry you lost that guy. The single combed one is a cutie- very d'uccle-ish except for the clean legs. If you find local people to buy them don't worry about me. Otherwise- if you can figure out the costs I'd take 2 or 3 of them.

Regarding shipping. You need to be NPIP or have the birds blood tested by a tester as for sale birds.Send a copy with the birds. You will need a approved box that you can purchase. You need to contact your local P.O. to see if you can ship live birds there or if you have to go to a big city P.O. My local P.O. accepts lives.Next you need to get a weight and use the postal calculator online or take it to the P.O. and have it weighed. They must go express.I recieved 2 birds from Mi. for $70 something and 4 from Ca. for around $80. By the time you add the cost of a box you will be pushing $90.00 to $100.It is not cheap to ship adult birds or well started ones. Jerry
