I've noticed something lately and wonder if it's just coincidence or is there a movement a-foot here? The last couple of issues of "Backyard Poultry" magazine have had articles in which they label photos of Easter Eggers as "Americanas." (spelled with an "i"). I kept poo pooing what I assumed was a lack of knowledge on the subject that they were writing about, while finding it interesting that the breeders in the back of the magazine advertise true "Ameraucanas" and clearly the distinction and the proper spelling have been brought to someone's attention in the editing department at some point. Then today I found an add from a local breeder who is selling "Americanas" spelled with the "i" but she goes on to specify that these are not show quality "Ameraucanas," spelled correctly. Are we now referring to non-standard Ameraucanas as "Americanas", spelling it with an "i" to differentiate, or is this nothing more than a coincidence?
