There you go again! KILLING me with your beautiful lavs. I'm still waiting... got over a month to go yet.
I knew it would be hard to wait this long when I placed the order, but I'm sure glad I did. (After watching one of the recent auctions on here for eggs, I'm REALLY glad I did..... BTW CONGRATS Muggs!)
That was CRAZY fun. I had hot flashes and wanted to join in on the bidding.
I have been getting a lot of questions on the Lav Ameraucanas, and if this auction does anything, it will draw attention to the breed...and give this color recognition. I could not have foreseen the eggs going so high. When we say we are breeders, we have a responsibility to strive to breed for type. I am working with what I have. I am grateful to Harry Shaffer and John W. Blehm for all the work and dedication they've put into this color (as I bought my eggs and chicks from them), and I will continue to work with what I have. They have both graciously answered what may have been ridiculous questions from me and I find their experience is invaluable.
If anyone is serious about a breeding program, they should always ask where people get their stock from, do their research, and even go to the top breeder to buy their own stock from. I sure hope Harry's emails are flooding in...he deserves a huge amount of credit for Lavender Ameraucanas. If anyone is looking for eggs off the auction site. Look up Harry on the ABC Breeder's Directory list. He was a pleasure to work with, and hopefully will have eggs available to everyone seeking them! I believe John has filled his waiting list for Lavender Ameraucanas this year.
Warmest regards,
Meagan
