Karen- Best of luck to you with your hatch. I have chicks coming from John Blehm. I should be getting chicks about the time your's are hatching! Cool! (Black, silver and lavender)

What variety are you ameraucana eggs?

I'm adding 5 Ameraucanas to my flock. I'm contacting two Georgia breeders from the ABC, and am looking for hatching eggs. I will only hatch, because I have things (NC/IB and MG) that I want to vaccinate for.

We are constructing a new 10 x 12 coop, and I plan to hold one splash pullet, 2 lav and 2 blue. Hopefully my hatch will go well.

Hello Everyone!
I love tha pics of your beautiful Ameraucana's, I have a mixed flock, and my favorites are my EE's which I purchased as Ameraucana, but only one is an accepted color, so I call them EE's. But anyway they are turning out to be my favorites. I love the muffs, their size and combs are ideal for our cold climate, and they have been great layers. I am giving all my french wheaten marans to my mom, and I would like to replace them with some true Ameraucanas. She is going to raise the marans, I am going to raise the ee's and ameraucanas, and we will cross them occasionly for some olive eggers. I was hoping someone on this thread could point me in the right direction for where to get some nice eggs? Thank you!
Mandy

Birch Run Farms is in VT, and there are a few people in NY as well. I always try to get shipped eggs that aren't too terribly far away.

There's no such thing as Red Ameraucanas, so, no.

Sounds like you've got some Easter Eggers that were sold to you under the wrong name.

Quick question about egg coloring genetics I don't remember. Are there 2 genes involved, one from the mother and one from the father, that together determine the egg color a pullet lays?

Which are just too rare for me to believe someone new has. No offense, they're just really rare.

Yes, one from the father, one from the mother is passed, however there are several genes involving egg color, who knows how many or how few involving in Ameraucana blues and greens.
