He and I were wondering: is it the largest flock in America? Anyone have more? However, like most of us over XX yrs old, not so computer literate. Not to worry.....LOOK OUT AMAERAUCANA THREAD! Wayne's comming......................!

Hi! I decided to come ask the experts

Right now I have some Ameraucana eggs in the incubator but I have not been able to candle them with any success. Short of buying a Brinsea candler...is there a way I can check to see if there are chickies on the way?

Thanks!

It could depend on what day you are candeling. I use an uber bright flashlight that most times I can see into the eggs on day 5. If the shell is THICK or DARK, it is harder to tell. Most times you can see them best on day 10, as the air cell will be prominent...and the rest of the egg is dark. BCM's and Welsummers are hard for me to see into, and also my Lav Ams lay very thick shelled eggs, so for those I wait until day 10 to candle.
