He's quite the little beesterd!!! I finally have him in a breeding pen, but he has come after me several times and got picked up by the neck until he let go. The last time he got ahold of me I held him down for a bit and that seems to have worked for now. My arms have bruises all up and down them from him.

he is VERY protective of his girls!!
I used to use a dog x-pen inside his breeding pen, so that I could walk in without getting attacked. He will be sweet again after breeding season is over... i promise. and his sons do not act like that. He's just a very dominant gander.

Unfortunately, if they are not copyrighted then it's true ~ it's not "stealing"...lacking integrity, yes, but stealing--not really. However, even if you do post, as I have done on my website, that all photos, etc., are copyright, you'd still have to go through all the h*ll of reporting it and involving all the authorities...hardly seems worth it.

I would suggest adding a "ghost" logo type thing on your photos, or simply coding them on websites where they cannot be copied/saved (you know, where you right click and can "copy" or "save as"). As far as using flickr or other photo sharing sites, I think you're out of luck. I don't think any of those freebie-type sites offer any way to prevent this other than making the photo or group "private" which would kind of defeat the purpose.

It's unfortunate that this happens, and this is why I was asking about how you know what you're buying. Of course, I never buy anything from eBay for this very reason ~ it's a pig in a poke deal to me.

@Peachick -

If you still want to (and you may have moved on by now) I would email them again and let them know that if the intend on stealing other people's photos for their ebay auctions (and it is indeed stealing, though few enforce it) they need to specifically include the language "chicken pictured above is for reference only, not representative of actual stock" and credit where they got it from because otherwise they are not just committing copyright infringement (and they are, you have a common law copyright on your photo regardless if you post a notice or not) but they are committing fraud since the buyer has an expectation of the quality pictured.

I will only buy eggs and chickens from BYC people, since I do not trust the ebay folks, just like the hatcheries selling EEs as Ameraucanas. Can you tell I have an EE instead of the Ameraucana I actually wanted?

I do love my hatchery EE and I was a newbie and didn't do my research before starting on the chicken adventure, but I feel that these people are riding on the back of people who have obviously spent a great deal of time and money to get photos of birds and eggs of a certain quality. The people buying on ebay don't know any better and if I saw a photo of your gorgeous eggs on the auction, and then got some that didn't look at all like that it would really upset me.

I sent this question ....
Do you have photos of your own stock? Do you know the difference between an Ameraucana and an Easter Egger?

Here is the reply I received:

I put a photo on my add of the chickens the eggs will be from.

I wasn't so nice...
I told them they were commiting fraud and everyone on BYC now knows.
