Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a Trio of Silvers From Blehm. The Rooster has a larger comb than it should but they are very nice otherwise.

I will try to get some pictures soon!

I hatched 3 Cockerals and 6 pullets from the trio that are now about 4 months old and turning out nicely. I think I have 1 roo with a very small and tighter comb so I am hopeful!

I also haven't seen much of the Silver lines being worked on. I am interested to see some others.

Here are the Silver Babies I hatched

I'm hoping someone on here can help me. I'm looking for an Ameraucana roo for a special breeding project. Conformation isn't too important to me but I'd really like a guy that comes from a long line of very blue eggs. I'm in Northern California.

Any idea on where to start? I checked the auctions around here and there is nothing reasonably close to me. I dont want to throw in any variables from an EE so I'd like to get a well-bred boy from someone who knows what they are doing (so 99.9% of the posts on CL are a no-go).

Thanks for any help in advance!

This is my big, black, lavender split boy who will be 6 mos. old on March 17th. He is running away from the EE in the background because he and the other chickens were afraid of her new hen apron! It was hilarious

I live in the Bay Area Bravo, where are you at?

My stock originated from Jean Ribbeck, I'm adding birds from Smith, Blehm and Meredith this year though. My mature birds all lay a lovely blue egg.

PM me and we'll chat further!

Might I suggest that you start by letting us know which variety you are looking for?

God Bless,

Thanks Tailfeathers. Any variety will do. In all reality I would be interested in a bird that would even be considered a cull as long as he was from a bright blue line of eggs.

I've seen a lot of variation in Ameraucana egg color from a slate to robins-blue. Ideally I would like a bird from the robins-blue end of the spectrum.

Ameraucana experts, please help me decide which roo to keep. Both are 9 month old splash roos from eggs I bought from Jean Ribbeck. Comments welcome

Roo # 1 (I think the girls are plucking his beard; it's looking a bit sparse

rooster 1 has better comb, but rooster 2 holds wings and tail better and has better body type in my opinion. But i am not an expert yet am interested in what the EXPERTS do say though. I would say rooster 2 and breed him to small combed hens. Hard to tell with a picture though ( not sure if he might have rose comb instead of pea comb??? hopefully someone can answer that ). Either way both are nice looking roosters in my eyes
