Just received eggs from Jean and Wayne! The eggs on the left are from Wayne and the ones on the right are from Jean. The brown are Buckeye from Jenjscott.

awesome chicks

i have a hatch in process of whites from wayne , and i got an assortment of eggs from jean , some pretty awesome looking chicks , ill get some pics posted after the last one hatches its in process now its a lav

It looks like I have one buff chick of Wayne's out so far and one of my own split/lav OEs It must have got a little cold- I've never had them all wait until the actual due date to start hatching.
I hope they make it quick, I have some awesome eggs from Nadine waiting to go in......

The buffs are funny- definitely not like Orps that all hatch the same color. The 3 Ramey ones I hatched a few weeks back all look the same now feather-wise, but were totally different at first. I'll have to check thier legs again though.

My Ameraucanas. One adult and two chicks.
My Grey Ameraucana 'Gris' wondering what she will look like full grown.
She has a cute brown stripe down the center of her back, reminds me of a chipmunks markings

Those are Easter Eggers, not Ameraucanas.

The chipmunk striped one will either grow to be a black/white or black/red male or it will be a brown and black female like the hen pictured.

What is the difference and how can you/I tell? The feed store had them as Ameraucana's...

Why not a black/white female? I have a few black/white EE hens (without any red or brown on them) who all looked like that as chicks---pale faded chipmunk patterns, with notable black "eyeliner", and either greyish or pale yellow background fluff. Mine were also feedstore/hatchery babies.

I need to edit my last post just a tad, having walked out to check the henhouse; my black/white EEs in fact do have some beige, tannish feathering (taupe?!) on their chests and wings...however, they look VERY much like the Silver Ameraucana hens on the breed website (in fact, I can't see a difference at all)...and they did all start as very pale, faded chipmunks with lots of black "eyeliner" and grey, pale yellow, or silver fuzz---again, uncannily like the photos of the LF Silver Ameraucana chicks on the Ameraucana website. All were females. My black/whites happen to be the more nervous of my EE gang, too.

Feedstores lie, just like the hatcheries that supply them. They're Easter Eggers, trust me.

There can indeed be black/white EE hens, but they're not as common.
