Wow Jean, what an awesome color

pips&peeps :

I found this egg this morning. It is from one of my lavender pullets. This is not a joke, this is the actual egg color.

I imagine the next one won't be exactly this color since sometimes the eggs take a long time to run through the oviduct when the birds are first starting up.

Hopefully you can see the detail in the picture. This looks like it was painted with dye for easter.

Well, the picture does not do it justice. It is a much darker blue.

OMG................ you must be totally excited. I know I would be & dying to see what comes out next.....LOL

That is amazing Jean!!!

That green egg is amazing! Definitely of Seussian quality.

I have 18 eggs in lockdown that started pipping today, including BBS Ameraucanas. So far none of the Ameraucanas have pipped so I am anxious. I have a whole bunch of Maran eggs with pips already. Fingers crossed!

I have to give back my borrowed incubator after this hatch, then no hatching for a while!

I lost one of my 4 week old lavender chicks this weekend. We had family watching them while we were in San Diego and I think they didn't change the water often enough.

I still have three, but the other one had really puffy muffs.

Here is a better picture..... I hope.

It's even more amazing looking in this picture!!!

Now, we just have to find a way to get all of our birds to lay eggs with color that deep... I think I'll print a copy of the picture and hang it above the nesting boxes with a caption that says, "This is what is expected!".

You HAVE to preserve the egg shell on that one, put it in a display case or something!
