A Blue is a single dilute gene on the Black and a Splash is a double dilute gene on the black.

A chick gets a gene from each parent. A blue bird will either pass the black gene or dilute gene on, a black can only pass a black gene, and a splash can only pass a dilute gene since it is a double dilute....does that make any sense?

I ASSUME it's the same as sending the the European Union. I can do it now. But it's very hard and expensive. I did it for my cousin. He's a very experienced bird breeder. He breeds all sorts of exotics and chickens too under what we would consider primitive conditions. He has a good hatch rate. Not sure I'd be willing to jump through so many hoops and go through such expense (specialy certified vet inspection, farm inspection, paperwork, paperwork fees etc) again for any one I didn't love and trust to get the job done. If you know what I mean. Cost me more than 300.00 to send 6 eggs. Part of that was certification of my farm but I belive I would have to get re-certified to do it again. Not sure. Didn't care to check. Thought of it as a 1 time shot.

Thank you for responding! I was feeling a little discouraged. lol. For some reason I thought breeders would be less inclined to ship eggs even more than chicks. I would totally love to get eggs and incubate them!

I used to breed and show budgerigars so had to deal with importing birds back then. I am in love with chickens now. They are so much easier than budgerigars...and they make breakfast!

I know there is some fussy work Department of Ag wants done first but I would be willing to do the legwork, phone calling etc. to make it not such a hassle for a breeder.

Ok I am getting back on the Ameraucana breeders list and searching for someone willing to ship eggs... just a heads up.
