Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Quote:
It could be a couple different things. It could be gold leakage or it could be sun damage. How old is she and has she been out in the sun a bit this year? Pics might help.

you really can't tell. I'll go take another picture.....well see how that goes LOL

Am I also seeing some brown on her wings? Here is my black Ameraucana, Gypsy. She is 3 1/2 yrs old and this year, has gotten a bit brownish in her beard, as you can see. Guessing it's from the sun as she is always outside.

I can't really make out anything in the photo, but my guess would be that it is sun damage and the age of the feathers on her. She doesn't appear to be in the best feather.

Here are some photos of my second generation of silver project birds. You can see that the silver pattern is already coming back; more so on some than others. There appears to be a tiny bit of red/gold leakage too, but I will wait until they have their final adult plumage before I make any decisions on them.

This one is huge and not so great on pattern:

Here are a couple photos of buffs that I am looking at to show this fall. They have a more even shade of buff than what the picture shows.

This one has the looser feathers like an orp.
