Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering about that edging on his sickles... good to know. Here's an updated pic now that he's finished molting... see? No fluff!

Tiny, that is a nice looking cock and I think I commented on several things before but I will say again, I really like his clean hackles and saddle. The red edging in the tail is more predominant in this photo but the lack of fluff is a real improvement and you can see that he's carrying his tail correctly in this photo. One thing I don't know if I mentioned before and that I saw this time is the primary and secondary wing feathers. You want the lower and outer edging, respectively to be a bay so that it forms a nice solid bay color when the wing is being held to the side.

As for the cockerel, in my experience it's still way too early to tell what he'll turn out right. Best wishes with him though.

God Bless,

Thank you, tailfeathers! So, are there any characteristics can I look for in the hens I pair him up with to help with his wing and tail color or will I have to just wait and see?

Lav to black will give you 100% splits no pure lavenders. You will only get the lavenders from splits or lavenders.

Whoops! Thanks for correcting that! I was thinking blue x black (I was admiring Gene and Kelly) and had two thoughts at once.
