I know what they are and how they mix to become Olive eggers or Easter egger etc
What I do not know is how can I look at a bird and know if it’s a true Ameraucana or not?

Ameraucanas have larger muffs and beard than EE. Also, roosters tend to not have as noticeable sickle feathers. APA recognizes the colors, Black, blue, blue wheaten, white, brown red, buff, silver, wheaten and self blue in large fowl.
You should check out: http://www.ameraucana.org/Ameraucana Standard

My blue ameraucana rooster Is from deer run farm and he is the nicest chicken I have.

Sorry to Hijack but kinda on the same subject...any thoughts on if this one is a blue or self blue Amerauca or is it an EE? Also I’m hoping I’m wrong but I’m getting the feeling it’s a cockerel?

Very handsome cockerel! He doesn't look like any of the recognized colors for purebreds, but do you really care? Are you breeding SQ purebreds? Only then would it matter.
Love his coloring!!!

I don’t care one bit! I got a dozen eggs to hatch from a local lady that breeds lots of different chicken breeds and she also had a lady no show so I went home with 30 eggs! I had 20 hatch and I have some of the coolest chickens out of them including a silver laced Orpington (also a cockerel). I have I believe 6 cockerels and I’m only keeping 2. It’s going to be so hard to pick which 2.

I’ve never breed any of my chickens yet because this is our first time keeping cockerels but if I breed him (and EE roo) to a hen that’s not an EE the chicken will still possibly have the gene to make them and EE and lay blue or green eggs correct?
