American(Buff, Blue, Lavander, etc.)goose thread! Post pics!

I'm sorry - I don't have much to add about the genetics, except that the colors confuse me as well. It is a tricky thing for me to even tell the shadings apart sometimes. I bought a pair of "cream" Holderreads goslings from a reputable source -- I wanted buff but went with cream as the closest thing -- well, so far they are looking about the same as my Buff adults and goslings. I am happy as that is the color I was looking for, but it just adds to my confusion . . .

If I understood the genetics better, then I could convince myself to get some lavender -- those are so pretty -- but I don't want to disturb the buff genetics in my main flock, so I will just have to watch other peoples!

I hope someone replies that knows more than I do -- I've read the color threads and it is all confusing me . . .

Here is a simple way. If you do purchase lavender if they breed with you Buffs the offspring will be be cream or lilac It dilute out when you breed lavender to the buff...
If you want your buff darker you take them to grey or blue. Grey makes the darker Buff.

We received our 4 goslings 2 weeks ago, they are growing fast.
2 Lavs, 2 Blues, they were about 1 week old in this photo.
Will post more pictures has they feather out.

Those babies are too cute! I have American Buff and I am planning on buying Lavenders and Blues. The Americans and my Pomeranians(Rugeners) are my favorite breeds of geese. That and the Steinbachers.

I was wondering about that myself. Thanks RURU! You are a wealth of information.

RURU...By the way...Your Sebbies are absolutely gorgeous! I had no idea there were so many colors.

Thank you and yes we do have many colors. I am a proud owner of 3 new gosling I purchased of 2 buff females and a grey gander split for buff. Thanks to Celtic Oaks, Shellie.

Thank you RURU -- that was very helpful about the buff / lavender or buff / grey . . . seems clear I should wait for blue or grey instead of lavender . . .

So my cream goslings crossed with a buff will have lighter offspring? Or a mix of grey/lavender/blue . . . I don' t know yet whether they are a pair or two of the same sex . . .

And those are beautiful goslings! Love all the different colorings . . .
