Thank you and yes we do have many colors. I am a proud owner of 3 new gosling I purchased of 2 buff females and a grey gander split for buff. Thanks to Celtic Oaks, Shellie.

I didn't know Celtic did Sebbies?! I am going to get some Americans from her when it is cooler. It got too hot on us to ship right now. Wouldn't it be too hot for Sebbies here in NM? Such pretty birds.

Do you have Steinbachers, and if so what is their tempermant like?

No Steinbachers yet, but working on it. Kind of hard to find because they are so rare. There is a lengthy way to go back and develop them. I may look into that. There is someone in New York that has the Steinbachers. I as yet do not know of anyone else, but I will let you know when I do. I may have to check Europe. They were known in Europe as fighting geese, but from what I know of them, they have a pleasant disposition. They apparently don't lay too many eggs and are supposed to be difficult to breed. I will get you more information if you like. We certainly could use more in this country.

Does anyone know the answer to my blue genetics question? Does anyone have Grey Americans? That's what is throwing me off.

I'm waiting for Pete to answer on the other thread, but I don't think he's been on BYC for a few days.

I am going to check that...It might take me a bit, or perhaps RURU might be able to tell you. I'll get back to you. Now you have me wondering about Grey Americans...could be, let's see.

We have a gander in the Americans who looks much more grey than the blue Americans. Not a for sure answer, but I can take new pictures tomorrow and show the blue, cream (no not buff), lavender and grey as the flock has all four colors in it.

Barb glad you are continuing to enjoy the babies.

Christine,

YES!!! I found it and you are correct. There is an American Gray Goose, also known as the Western Goose. It looks like an American Buff, but Gray. Interesting reading. It is on the following link: www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Geese/GrayGeeseRussellJune04.html. Somebody must have some, but where is what I am going to look for. I want some of those!

Celtic I sure am enjoying the 3 of them. But that grey gander is a jumping boy! So you got Houdini sp? from me and I get Jumpin Jack Flash from you!

I have not picked names yet for them. My brain is just not working yet. I still have not named the three I kept back to grow out... The grey gander would jump out of the container as soon as I put him back in. Then run to my feet and look for food and water. Like I can not wait I want it NOW!

I have been thinking about names for the buff girls. Toffee and Butterscotch. Not sure though.???
On my grey saddleback girls been playing around with G names because mom is Gloria. Thinking Glenda and Genna..?? Not sure if the gosling from Hanna (grey sb) and Nikki (lavender) of what the color or sex is at this time.

Thanks! That was interesting. You would think there would be plenty of them around if breeding blue to blue produces 25% grey.

well parents are Liberty, Justice, McGraw and Creme Brulee for the buffs and grey split (if that helps you with names)
